KKS (Automatic coupling system)

The JOST KKS enables the driver to couple and decouple the semi-trailer via remote control without leaving the driver’s cab. The JSK 42 fifth wheel coupling, the Modul E-Drive landing gear, SKS, sensors and LubeTronic components form a complete system which saves time when coupling, as well as increases safety, efficiency and ergonomics. 

The driver is guided through the coupling process, with sensors
providing live information on the coupling status through the KKS remote control. Furthermore, the driver can operate the landing gear and fifth wheel coupling locking mechanism from the cab, significantly reducing the coupling duration and number of times needed to get in and out of the cab. It is of course possible to introduce the KKS step-by-step into to the fleets, as the operation in mixed fleets is possible.

The KKS is particularly suited for transport companies which often perform coupling processes and drive short distances, such as those in on-site operations, as the time advantages here are particularly beneficial from a financial standpoint.

The automatic coupling system (KKS) automates the entire coupling procedure.

1. KKS Connector

The KKS Connector establishes all the necessary electrical and pneumatic connections between the truck and the trailer. This eliminates not only the danger caused by climbing onto and off the catwalk, but also the need to manually connect the supply lines. When decoupling a trailer, the connector always aligns to the straight-ahead position, ensuring the next coupling process goes smoothly.

2. KKS Remote Control

The KKS Remote Control provides the driver with live status information on the locking position of the fifth wheel coupling, the position of the trailer plate and the king pin. The driver is able to extend and retract the landing gear or open the KKS 42 from the driver’s cab. The entire process is standardised, eliminating any possibility of a mistake.

3. KKS 42

The KKS is based on the proven and reliable JSK 42 with short handle. Depending on the design, it is supplemented by the LubeTronic 5 LubeTronic 1Point. The KKS 42 also includes the innovative JOST SKS (sensor coupling system) featuring 3 sensors, thereby eliminating the need to pull on the handle and ensuring maximum safety when coupling.

4. KKS Modul E-Drive

The innovative Modul E-Drive landing gear extends and retracts fully at the push of a button on the KKS remote control, thereby eliminating the need for strenuous and time-consuming cranking. It also prevents the feet from being caught and damaged on any bumps. JOST’s S foot is installed as standard. And the Modul E-Drive further demonstrates its strengths when decoupling a trailer in tight spaces as the driver no longer has to manually crank the landing gear in restricted spaces.

The Modul E-Drive is part of the highly reliable and robust JOST Modul series and is available in different installation heights and plate positions.

Truck KKS Fifth Wheel Coupling

Scope of delivery:
The KKS Fifth Wheel Coupling is structurally identical to the JSK 42. The models below serve as examples; more can be provided on request. Equipped as standard with sensors, SKS and LubeTronic 5Point in the standard version, or with LubeTronic 1Point in the low-maintenance version. All with short handle.
